(S03) (INNO) Unmasking Criminals Operating on the Dark Web
Tuesday, October 14, 2025 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM · 15 min. (Canada/Eastern)
Information
Criminals believe they can operate with impunity on dark web networks such as Tor. However, law
enforcement are increasingly successful in unmasking high-risk criminals, disrupting large-scale
operations, and bringing the perpetrators to justice. This talk will provide practical guidance on
how law enforcement agencies can investigate criminals on the dark web with recaptured data,
build profiles of these high-risk criminal actors, and begin to unmask the actors behind the aliases.
This session will include:
● Intelligence and real-life examples of the types of criminality we currently observe on the
dark web - including fraud, human trafficking, and the sale of drugs and illicit materials;
● Demonstration of how you can pivot on individual actors to view and assess their activity
across dark web and clear web sites;
● Guidance on dark web market and site seizures - including evidence collection, unmasking
users, and harvesting user data;
● The future direction of dark web investigation techniques, products and services.
