(TR08) (ID&KYC) Are decentralised identities economical?

In recent years, the debate on the contribution of decentralised identities has focused mainly on the aspect of data protection (Privacy by design) and potential disintermediation. Today, attention is focused on the economic aspect of decentralised identity. Is it really likely to be cheaper than an identity based on a public key infrastructure or a federated identity using standard protocols? The question also arises in relation to the more specific universe of the Internet and the web: in which universe are decentralised identities likely to have the greatest economic attraction? What do the studies and feedback tell us?
