Embedded systems are subject to heavy constraints in terms of integration, real-time calculations, compactness, robustness, operational security and energy savings. They can be found in all sectors which require mobility and in a variety of essential sectors such as transport, household appliances, armaments and medical equipment. So, what is the truth about the threats to these devices? Have manufacturers really grasped this issue? Are these systems’ integration and maintenance constraints compatible with the traditional view of cybersecurity, or do they call for a paradigm shift?
